The Eagle House Approach
The Eagle House Approach provides a unique approach to teaching and learning. It provides a flexible framework for our children and young people and is undertaken by our local and extended multidisciplinary team. This includes psychology, speech & language therapy, occupational therapy and a visiting Consultant Psychiatrist. This makes us a unique multi-professional resource for children with an autistic spectrum disorder and as such, we regard ourselves as remarkably well placed to meet and develop our children's global needs - not just their education.
Speech and Language Therapy
At Eagle House School (Norfolk) we aim to integrate speech and language therapy into the classroom and work towards enabling pupils to access learning opportunities. Communication is fundamental to learning and therapists therefore collaborate with the class teachers to ensure communication is functional within the classroom.
We select activities that will engage, motivate and focus pupils' attention - an essential skill for learning. Therapists then work collaboratively with the teacher to progress each child's communicative skills and developing their communication and attention abilities.

Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy is concerned with our pupil's ability to function in their everyday life activities (e.g., self-care, school work, play, social interaction and independence). Our pupils are assessed in terms of age appropriate life tasks and focused on areas that would ordinarily interfere with their ability to function.
Each child's motor and sensory abilities are assessed for how they are impacting their functional abilities.
We aim to:-

Our Psychology Service
Psychology at Eagle House School (Norfolk) is about a positive and proactive approach. Challenging and restrictive behaviours are analysed using Functional Analysis which aims to identify the function behind particular behaviour. The pupil's strengths and interests are taken into consideration when designing a Behaviour Management Plan as well as their cognitive ability and developmental level. Each pupil has an individual Behaviour Management Plan (BMP) and a Behaviour Profile which is updated on a regular basis. BMP's are created to comply with teaching methods used at the school (TEACCH, PECS, exercise, healthy diet, etc).
Psychology also provides advice on social skills, leisure activities, self help skills, attention and interaction. This department is also involved in professional development of colleague, ASD and learning disabilities training including SCIPr-UKŪ
Consultant Psychiatrist
Our visiting Consultant Psychiatrist has extensive expertise and experience working with children and young people with autism and learning disabilties. He works with our multidisciplinary team to provide a pro-active and responsive service to the mental health needs of our young people at Eagle House School (Norfolk).
